Most companies in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson now require their prospective new employees to undergo pre-employment physical testing. They also require their current employees to get yearly physical examinations. A pre-hire and an annual exam can result in early detection and treatment of health problems that could cause low productivity, absenteeism and increased insurance usage if left untreated. It can also determine whether employees are physically capable of doing their regular duties, need special accommodations or even pose a public safety risk.

Employment Physical Testing in Fort St JohnMC Occupational Health & Safety is proud to offer pre-employment physical fitness testing. All of our examiners are certified, through their Kinesiology undergraduate program, to perform and evaluate the testing. Pre-employment fitness testing or job task testing can be an effective way to ensure that the company is hiring employees who are fit for duty, eliminating the ‘guess work’ often associated with a new hire. This is a great and efficient way to be pro-active in your safety program!

Should your company require this service, we can also provide a Physical Demands Analysis, a report generated in regards to the physical tasks and demands of a specific occupation. Once this is completed, it is much easier to test against these tasks using specific standardized tests to ensure consistency and reliability. Specialized musculoskeletal testing will identify areas of concern and those workers will receive recommendations for further medical investigation, treatment and/ or rehabilitation services. Identifying pre-existing injuries will allow your company to reduce injuries in the workplace and increase employee retention, while reducing WHSCC claims and costs. The yearly physical exam for all regular employees can proceed more smoothly based on the recorded results of the pre-employment tests.
